B.C students visit Quebec on a YMCA exchange
Our visitors from the Hazelton B.C area have come and gone, leaving behind wonderful memories and lasting relationships. We had a great week with our new friends! Activities included:
Day 1: Breakfast, Meet and Greet. Students were introduced to their host families and had a restful day catching up on some sleep and eating good food.
Day 2: A tour of Sherbrooke, where students visited Lac des Nations, the Natural Science Museum and had an authentic poutine lunch at Louis’ Luncheonette.
Day 3: Hazelton area and Eastern Township students worked on their teamwork abilities through various low ropes initiatives on the LttM property. Also, students volunteered their time cutting branches, stacking wood and clearing brush.
Students were treated to a traditional Cabane a Sucre supper followed by a drumming circle.
Day 4: Snow Day! Time at home with host families.
Day 5: Students spent the day in Montreal where they visited the Science Museum, Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica and spent some time shopping!
Day 6: The day was spent at Jouvence Outdoor Education Centre where we went cross-country skiing, tubing and played broom ball.
We had a fun-filled, busy week. This experience proved to be a worthwhile cultural exchange and we look forward to visiting our friends in May!
